About Us
Our Story & Mission
Mindset Math is a youth-led education nonprofit founded by two high school students who were frustrated with how STEM, especially math, is often taught in K–12 schools. Too often, STEM learning is reduced to rigid rules, speed, and correctness—obscuring the creativity, complexity, and real-world relevance.
We exist to reimagine STEM education through student-centered, research-informed design. At Mindset Math, young people are not just learners—they are co-designers, facilitators, and researchers, working alongside educators, nonprofits, and school districts to design and deliver innovative and pedagogically grounded learning experiences for peers and younger students across diverse communities in the U.S. and beyond.
Why We Matter
-
Math scores are low: The 2022 U.S. National Assessment of Education Progress report showed that only 36% of fourth-graders and 26% of eighth-graders scored proficient in math.
-
Anxiety levels are high: According to American Psychological Association, about 20% to 25% of kids experience at least some math anxiety, which often persists into adulthood.
-
School math is not fun: According to Education Week, less than half (47%) of U.S. K-12 students said that their math class often or always explores interesting problems, with 23 percent saying it never or rarely does.
-
Confidence erodes: Findings from the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study suggests that only 32% of 4th graders and 15% of 8th graders report being "very confident" in math.

Artificial intelligence's growing role in education and society has further highlighted the need to move traditional learning modes toward real-world and engaging experiences nurturing essential capabilities like problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity.
What We Do

Curriculum design
Implementation
Evaluation & Refinement
Scaling & Resource Sharing
We design and launch educational initiatives—either independently and in collaboration with professionals—guided by expert consultation and in-depth research into learning sciences, pedagogy, and latest trends in education.
We implement our programs at local or online schools and community centers, sometimes receiving training and and teaching tools provided and funded by organizational partners.
We regularly evaluate our programs through feedback from students, teachers, and community partners, refining contents and strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
Through partnerships, we share resources and lesson plans with a global network of educators and after-school programs, expanding our impact to reach young learners worldwide.
