Green Elementary School

During the first among a series of Mindful Mathletes lessons at Green Elementary in Roseburg, OR, Samantha and August taught the value of mistakes together with the Fibonacci Sequence. The students were thoroughly engaged and applied some awesome critical thinking skills. They all worked together and compared their thought processes’ with each other using creative organizational systems. There were some struggles and challenges along the way, but no one gave up!

One student said to August, “I didn’t really understand it when I saw it before, but now I really get it! I’m going home and looking through my math assignments so I can learn more!”

Samantha and August will use the remaining time in the school year to meet with these kids weekly, encouraging their love and curiosity for math!
