Happy Tail Summer Camp

Annie: in July 2024, I taught Mindful Mathletes to a group of 4th-6th graders at Barbara’s Academy in Shenyang, China. When the Dye Problem proved too challenging during one lesson, I switched to an easier one.  To my surprise, three students came up to me the next day and said that they dug into and eventually figured out the Dye Problem the night before; later, they took turns explaining their ways of solving the problem in front of the class. I was very impressed by the students’ determination to aspire after truth, their eagerness to engage in deep exploration, and their courage to present their mathematical reasoning in front of peers. It was a reminder of how powerful a thirst for knowledge and perseverance can be in unlocking new insights!
