Launch Expeditionary Learning Charter School - Saturday

Annie: As a teacher, I often find myself learning just as much from my students as they do from me. Every weekend at the Launch Expeditionary Learning School’s Saturday Academy, I lead Mindful Mathletes workshops for a group of non-English-speaking students from Ecuador. Despite language barriers, I taught myself some math-related Spanish vocabulary, and the students helped me pick up Spanish along the way. With a mix of Google Translate, their guidance, and the universal language of math, the students worked together to solve the classic Chickens and Rabbits Problem, all while discovering the power of a growth mindset. After the math task, they enjoyed mindful crocheting as a recreational activity!
