Stege Elementary School

Every Friday, Mindset Math team member Alex H. brings the joy of math to students at Stege Elementary School in Richmond, California through the Mindful Mathletes program. Reflecting on today’s successful lesson, Alex shared, “the 5th and 6th graders were a lot more engaged than I expected. They were all very eager to come up to the board and help out. They kept getting up even when I was still explaining.” Alex is very meticulous: he prepared worksheets ahead of time and, as a native Spanish speaker, was able to explain the math problem to one of the students in Spanish. It’s moments like these that highlight the impact of thoughtful teaching and the importance of making learning accessible for every student!
